Oro maxillofacial unit of District Hospital Baramulla has started to do various maxillofacial surgical procedures. A complex oral antral fistula was recently operated upon with Buccal Pad Fat Technique .
The Operative Team included Dr Babar Ali Shah & Dr Amrit Pal Singh(Oro maxillofacial Surgeons) and Dr Ahsan ul Haq (Consultant Anaesthetist).
The unit has been given a separate theatre to perform various surgical procedures so that patients don't need to be shifted and avail quality maxilofacial surgeries within the hospital

Post burn severe contracture hand in a 16 year female patient from Ramban was operated at SDH Bijbehera.The little finger was fused with palm.Contracture was released and defect grafted.Full finger straightening was achieved with full range of motion.
Tube thoracostomy was also recently performed at the same hospital.Elderly patient presented with history of blow by a falling heavy steel pipe on the back of his chest. Examination revealed a well circumscribed bruise on left scapular area. There was subcutaneous emphysema and X-ray chest revealed pneumothorax involving slightly less than 1/3rd of left chest.
The operative team under the logistics support from MS SDH Bijbehara included Dr Hamid-ullah Dar,Dr Nissar, Dr Idrees(Surgeons) Dr Nasir, Dr Anjum (Anesthetist)

SKIMS Department of Surgical Oncology in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir is going to conduct a special clinic for follow up patients at District Hospital Baramulla on Aug 31.
Officials told KNS that the department will also operate some cancer patients at hospital on Wednesday.
The officials said that patients from nearby places can come there for follow up.
Pertinently, the programme like conducting of special clinic for patients started in 2014 by Dr Altaf Gauhar Haji, HOD Surgical Oncology and his team and a lot of patients are getting benefited with such programmes.

Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) in collaboration with Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), in its continuous effort to reach out to cancer patients of the valley at their doorsteps, performed 5 cancer surgeries today at District Hospital Anantnag. This is for the first time that such advanced surgeries have been performed in South Kashmir. Since the inception of MoU between Department of Surgical Oncology, SKIMS and DHSK, number of advanced cancer surgeries have been performed across various peripheral hospitals of the directorate and in that context today District Hospital Anantnag took a lead.
The operative team included Dr. Altaf Gauhar Haji (HOD, Department of Surgical Oncology, SKIMS), Dr. Sheikh Zahoor, Dr. Ab Waheed, Dr. Ab Bari, Dr. Mudasir, Dr. Imtiyaz and Dr. Vishal. The team from SKIMS was assisted by Dr. Malik Azad, Dr. Altaf Wani, Dr. Firdous Ahmad, Dr. Salman Khurshid, Dr. Mohammad Shafi, Dr. Firdous, Dr. Nadeem Rashid, Mr. Akhter Hussain, Mr. Mukhtar Ah Shah, Mr. Mohd Maqbool, Mr. Ab Hye, Mr. Ghulam Rasool, Mr. Zubair Ahmad, Mr. Bilal Ahmad,
Mr. Manzoor Ahmad and Mr. Irshad Ahmad. The logistic support was provided by the hospital administrator Dr. A Majid Mirab. The patients who were listed earlier were operated today for breast cancer, thyroid cancer, parotid carcinoma and colorectal cancer.

First ever spinal surgery was performed yesterday by the Orthopaedic Unit of District Hospital Anantnag. A 22 year old boy who had a history of fall from tree was admitted in the hospital, few days ago. X Ray/CT of the patient had shown L2 compression fracture. The team of doctors chalked out a treatment plan and procedure L1_L3 posterior instrumented stabilization was done. The patient is doing well post operatively. The operative team included Dr Younis Kamal, Dr Gulzar Kuchey (Orthopaedic Surgeons), Dr Firdous Posh (Anesthetist), Mr Farooq Ahmad, Mr Lateef Ahmad (Theatre Staff) under the logistic support of Hospital Administrator Dr Majid Mirab.
The Orthopaedic Unit of District Hospital Anantnag has been routinely performing various complex orthopaedic surgeries and have the credit to initiate various advanced orthopaedic surgeries in the past which include Hemi Arthoplasty, Minimaly Invasive Percutaneous Osteosynthesis (MIPO Technique),Fracture Trochnter of right side femur with DHS instrumentation. Orthopaedic Cases like Adult Cubitus Varus, CTEV (Congenital Talepies Equino Varus) Deformity etc. have also been operated upon. All these procedures are tertiary level which the doctors of the department have been rendering to the patients in District Hospital. During the current circumstances the orthopaedic unit along with surgical unit of District Hospital Anantnag performed 80 major trauma surgeries.

45 year old female patient was admitted to DH Anantnag with a presentation of low back ache with Bilateral Lower Limb Radiculopathy, Neurodeficit L2 B/L 4/5 and was unable to walk.
MRI revealed L1-L2 Extruded Disc with conus compression.The Orthopaedic Unit of DH Anantnag operated upon the patient and the
Procedure done was L1-L2 Decompression
L1-L2 Disectomy, L1-L2 posterio-Lateral Instrumented Fusion.Patient is doing well post operatively.
The operative team included Dr Basharat Mujtaba (Neurosurgeon) ,Dr Younis Kamal, Dr Gulzar Kuchey (Orthopaedic Surgeons), Dr Farooq,Dr Nasir Malik (Anesthetist), Mr Farooq Ahmad, Mr Lateef Ahmad (Theatre Staff) under the logistic support of Hospital Administrator Dr Majid Mirab.
